The #1 Misunderstanding about Depression and Anxiety is…

In Uncategorized on October 4, 2009 at 6:03 pm

For some reason, anxiety carries less social stigma than depression. You may feel like less of a leper admiting to your anxiety than to your depression. Anxiety conjures associations of something dramatic — maybe even interesting. Depression only calls to mind soiled Kleenex and someone who will drain the life force out of you by talking your ears off.

Surprisingly, neither depression nor anxiety are seperate issues. They are actually two polar extremes of the same life dilemma.

Anxiety occurs when you have a life challenge that you cannot see a solution for — while you have energy. Depression, on the other hand, is what happens when you’ve spun your wheels in vain all day long struggling to break past this issue. Depression is what happens when your problem stays just as locked-in but your creative energy is zapped.

The implications of misunderstanding this depression-anxiety cycle is the number #1 FAIL you might easily commit. When you get depressed, you might try to increase your energy level with exersize, diet, or even medication. This will do nothing more than pull you out of depression and into anxiety. When you are anxious, you may try the same things to make you calm down. This will do nothing more than pull you out of anxiety and put you in depression. This is why most people experience anxiety in the mornings and depression at night.

So it’s obvious that the solution is NOT in varying the temperature of your furnace. The solution is in creating a mental insulation / ventilation system. The solution is outside of the mechanics of the problem/energy level paradigm.

All you have to do is create visibility into the solution.

The solution is outside of the mechanics of the problem/energy level paradigm

If a solution is in sight, whether you are fatigued or energized, you will not suffer depression or anxiety (respectively). Logical right?

So then, how do you create this mental insulation/ventilation system that will keep you comfortable at any energy level?

1. Provide value to a Mentor. She / He will mentor you.

2. WAIT long enough for the events surrounding the problem to offer you a window of resolution.

3. Consider JBNI’s (FCC Disclosure: JBNI is the producer of this blog and the producer of 100% natural, all herbal “naturaceuticals” as featured in Interview Magazine) Leitzin to stimulate and open your mental visibility when low and Serenadin to put your issues in mental perspective when overly energetic.

To ask JBNI’s Team of Scientists and Doctors a direct question, use http://jbni.us/forum – ASK “J!”
